Recently when i heard about yet another series of cutbacks to environmental protections by the Trump administration, i was reminded of the environmental song “Whose Garden Was This?” by Tom Paxton. I was inspired to write a political song using the same melody, and a garden as a metaphor for our country.
The song is a difficult one for me to sing because of its dynamic range. I also chose to put it into a key in which the minor chords are easy for me to play, so that i need to capo it at the 5th fret — higher than any other song that i sing. The lyrics and an mp3 are linked below.
