I really enjoyed the small size and playability of my Romero Creations D Ho 6 guilele, but i prefer the sound of steel strings. I purchased the steel string version of the D Ho 6, but quickly sent it back because the tone was significantly poorer quality than my guitars. While browsing the internet, i found a Pono UL6-30(C) mini guitar — basically a cedar top, rosewood back copy of a Martin size 5 guitar. Unfortunately, it was out of stock.
I’d been waiting for new ones to come in (Pono guitars are distributed only at theUkuleleSite.com); that finally happened in early March 2023. While i was waiting, in looking at the Pono guitars on the site and viewing and listening to the youtube recordings, i became more and more intrigued by them. So i ordered the one shown here. It is an 0 size, with cedar top and acacia back and size. It is a very pretty guitar, and sounds wonderful. The tone is comparable to Junior, my Martin 0-18. I’ve become a great fan of 0-size guitars.
The name Cecilia is meant to refer to the cedar top wood and acacia on the back and sides (same last name — “cia”).
P.S. I did finally get the Pono UL-30C, size 5 cedar/rosewood guitar. The size was fun to play, but the tone just didn’t compare favorably with my other steel strings, so i sold it.
